The monument against war and fascism in Braunau am Inn , Austria is located opposite the birthplace of Adolf Hitler , and was inaugurated in 1989.
The birthplace of Hitler was municipal library until 1965. He then served as the headquarters of a bank. Between 1970 and 1976 he hosted some classes at a local school. It later became the headquarters of ‘Lebenshilfe’, a community institution working with the disabled.
In 1989 the then mayor, Gerhard Skiba , promoted the installation of the monument in front of the birthplace of Hitler. It is a stone that was brought from the nearby Mauthausen concentration camp . The inscription on the stone says the following:
For Peace , Freedom and Democracy
Never again Fascism
